Why do STEM resumes feel so much harder to write than other resumes?

by

I’ve been working on a resume platform specifically for STEM students and professionals, and one thing keeps coming up:

Writing a resume in STEM feels fundamentally different.

It’s not just about listing responsibilities — it’s about:

  • projects

  • research

  • tools and technical skills

  • measurable impact

But most resume advice online feels very generic.

Curious to hear from others:
👉 What’s the hardest part about writing a STEM resume?

Is it:

  • structuring experience?

  • explaining technical work clearly?

  • knowing what recruiters actually look for?

Would love to hear different perspectives.
