Where do you draw the line between funny and “too far” with pranks?

by

I’ve always loved pranks. But only the kind that make everyone laugh afterward.

While building The One & Only, we kept running into the same question:

Most prank gifts either go way too far… or fall completely flat.

We ended up focusing on harmless prank mail that looks real at first glance, creates that brief “wait… is this legit?” moment, and then lands as a joke. No mess, no damage, no cruelty.

I’m curious how others think about this:

  • What makes a prank genuinely funny vs uncomfortable?

  • Is surprise the key, or is context more important?

  • Have you ever received a prank that actually made your day?

Would love to hear different perspectives. Especially from people who don’t usually like pranks.
