What contract clause almost cost you?

by

I'll start.

I was reviewing a "standard service agreement" last year. Clause 5 said all work product — including rejected drafts — becomes the client's exclusive property across all related categories. Forever.

I'm a developer. That clause would have handed them rights over anything I built in that industry for future clients too.

I negotiated it out. They accepted within an hour. They didn't even realize what their own contract said.

Since then I've been obsessed with how many freelancers sign contracts like this every day without realizing it. It's why I built FlagMyContract — an AI tool that scans contracts for these traps and gives you the exact counter-clause language to send back.

But I'm curious: what's the worst clause you've found? IP traps, unlimited revisions, non-competes that cover your whole industry?

Drop it below — let's build a list of red flags every freelancer should know.
