👉 We just launched camera-resistant photos & videos on the App Store
Hey everyone 👋
We just launched Umbr on the App Store — and it’s built around a pretty simple idea:
What if photos and videos couldn’t be captured by another camera?
Not screenshots — those are easy to block.
We’re talking about someone pointing a second phone at your screen.
That’s the real gap.
So we built a system that uses real-time rendering + ML to make media:
look completely normal to your eyes
but degrade heavily when filmed by another device
It’s not watermarking.
Not DRM.
It’s protection at the visual layer itself.
This is our first version (iPhone only), focused on:
private sharing
sensitive content
situations where you don’t want re-recording
But honestly — we don’t yet know how big this is.
Curious what you think:
Is this a real problem or overkill?
Where would you actually use this?
What would make you trust (or not trust) it?
App is live if you want to try it:

Would really value honest feedback 🙌
Note: This is v1.0 it still in active development and as our models get better so will the destruction.
