Is anyone actually happy with their media organization workflow?

I feel like this is one of those problems everyone just kind of accepts is broken…

I’ve been dealing with a pretty big library of visual assets (VJ loops, renders, stock footage, random packs, etc.), and once you get past a certain size it just completely falls apart.

Folders sort of work… until they don’t
Searching is slow or useless
Tagging is inconsistent (if you even do it at all)
Duplicates everywhere
And half the time you know you have something, you just can’t find it

I’ve tried a mix of:

  • Folder structures

  • Naming conventions

  • Some DAM tools

  • Just dumping everything into software like Resolume

…but nothing really feels built for scale or speed

Curious how others are dealing with this:

  • Are you actually happy with your setup?

  • What tools/workflows are you using?

  • How big is your library (GB / TB / number of files)?

  • How do you handle searching + duplicates?

Feels like there has to be a better way.
