I’ve noticed the same resume mistakes over and over — are you seeing this too?
I’ve been helping a few friends update their resumes recently, and I kept noticing the same patterns again and again.
Most of them weren’t getting interviews, and it wasn’t because they lacked experience.
The common issues I saw:
Resumes not optimized for ATS
Overly designed templates that look nice but are hard to scan
Describing responsibilities instead of achievements
One thing that surprised me:
When you simplify the layout and rewrite bullets to focus on measurable results, the resume feels 10x stronger immediately.
Also, tailoring keywords to the job description seems to make a bigger difference than people expect.
I’m curious —
What’s been the hardest part for you when updating your resume?
Formatting? Writing bullet points? Passing ATS?
Would love to hear what others are struggling with.
