Do you actually use your standing desk, or is it just an expensive table?

by•

Hey Product Hunt community! šŸ‘‹

Quick confession: I bought an $800 standing desk in 2023 thinking it would fix my back pain and make me healthier.

Two years later? I sit at it for 12 hours straight, every single day.

The problem isn't the desk, it's that I get into flow state and completely forget to adjust the height. No system. No reminders. Just guilt at the end of the day.

I tried Pomodoro timers (wrong intervals for standing), Apple Watch reminders (too generic), and post-it notes (ignored them). Nothing was built specifically for sit-stand cycles.

So I built StandCycle.

It's a simple browser timer that runs the 45/15/1 protocol:

→ 45 minutes sitting

→ 15 minutes standing

→ 1 minute walking

Based on research around optimal posture intervals. No signup. Free. Just a browser tab you keep open that gently reminds you when to switch.

We're launching tomorrow (Saturday) and I'd love your honest feedback:

1. If you have a standing desk, do you actually use it regularly? Or does it just... sit there?

2. What's stopping you from standing more? (Forgetfulness? Discomfort? Workflow interruption?)

3. Would a simple browser timer actually help, or is this solving a problem that doesn't exist?

I'm genuinely curious if this is just my problem or if other developers struggle with the same guilt of wasting money on ergonomic furniture
they never use.

Looking forward to your thoughts! šŸ™
