Once you watch this video, you'll see how cool and easy this is — and what a great example of the conversational interaction paradigm this is.
Of course it may seem like only a modest improvement over opening the Uber app on your phone and making the request... but in reality, if you order and Uber everyday (say, for your daily commute), the friction of that micro-interaction builds up over time. It becomes yet another thing you've got to budget time for, and that takes away from your attention from other, probably more important tasks (especially if you've got kids).
If Uber is going to make transportation as reliable as running water, then it needs to be easy to use, access, and interact with. Bringing Uber to the Amazon Echo flows directly from this mission. (Pun intended! 😜)
@chrismessina Hey Chris, awesome to see Uber experimenting with voice based #ConvComm. Would love to hear you follow up on this once you get a set of data :)
I am so personally psyched about this. I use Amazon Alexa every single day. I use it to control my lights, give me news briefings, listen to music check on the weather/time and so much more. I'm going to use this integration pretty much every day.

Does Amazon Echo come with a bluetooth microphone enabled audio playing headset for ease of usage?
I have only been able to find notice of pairing with smart mobile devices and tablets..
I strongly believe it will be beneficial to develop this..
Especially convenient to be wearing in the house, kitchen, or office!
I hope this was worthwhile for you to consider.
Thanks,

@jay_bee12345 Their is no headset for it; however, you can get a voice remote

With this idea the user experience will increase dramatically
especially in the scenarios I outlined (house, kitchen, or office!)
Instead of having to use your voice remote
or being within range of the Echo device
you could be wearing a New Amazon Echo Bluetooth Headset
and listening to your Alexa curated music or news
or talking to someone over the phone..
paired to your mobile device as well of course!
These are just my initial thoughts for applications of my hardware idea!
I look forward to more @askdaylen feedback
and from anyone else!
Thanks,

@jay_bee12345 I would buy a headset for Alexa if Amazon added notifications. For example, if Alexa could tell me I got mentioned on Twitter or my Uber has arrived a headset would be great.

@jay_bee12345 You can pre-order the Pebble Core which has Alexa built in and works with earbuds (both wired and wireless).
so cool. was waiting for this. Echo is becoming such an amazing platform: yesterday they announced Spotify integration. Now Uber. update: to activate it s a little tricky. you need to open the alexa app, go to "skills" search for uber, connect. done. i wish it was easier to find
As the functionality and reliability of the "internet of things" continues to improve it's cool to see integrations like these. The best part of this is being able to ask Alexa how far away the Uber is. Perfect for when you are scrambling to pack up your stuff and get out the door. Great work!
@harryraymond As I said on Twitter. My mom has MS too, your story really resonated with me. Thank you!. Yes you can select which car type you want! Just ask for 'UberX' etc.
