Tunnex launches tomorrow — ask me anything
by•
Hey Product Hunt 👋
Tunnex goes live tomorrow (May 24th). I built it to solve a problem I kept hitting myself — backing up self-hosted Postgres and MongoDB without leaving plaintext dumps on disk or passwords in shell history.
A few things I'm happy to answer before launch:
- How the AES-256-GCM streaming encryption works (no temp files ever touch disk)
- Why it's a desktop app and not a CLI or cloud service
- How SSH tunneling + Docker container detection works under the hood
- Roadmap — what's coming after 0.1.x
Also genuinely interested in: how are you currently handling ad-hoc database backups for self-hosted setups?
