Hi Product Hunt! 👋

Why I built this

The best track on the radio is always the one you can’t name. I listen to a lot of independent internet radio, the kind with DJs who dig deep, and I kept losing tracks and missed easily skipping between high quality radio stations within one app.

Radio apps play music. Recognition apps name one song. I wanted both, continuously. So I built Tunetrace: a radio player that names every track while you listen.

How it works

  • Sixteen (and counting) hand-picked independent stations from twelve broadcasters, among them 88.3 Centreforce Radio, Nightride FM, Solar Radio and Radio Meuh. No commercial radio, no algorithms.

  • It reads the station’s own now-playing info first. When that’s missing, it listens along and works out the track itself.

  • Anything you like goes into your Collection, ready to buy on Discogs or Beatport or to open in Spotify or Apple Music. Each track comes with its label, origin/year and similar artists.

It’s deliberately small: sixteen stations, not fifty thousand. A niche app for people who like being surprised by music they don’t know yet in these genres Electronic, Disco & Italo, Eclectic & Synth.

What feedback would help most

  1. Station tips. Which independent stations would you love to see in here? As long as it’s independant and run by people who care about music and it's not full blown commercial radio.

  2. Did it name the track? If it misses or gets one wrong on your favourite station, tell me which station and roughly when. That helps me tune it.

  3. After the trace. Does the Collection help you actually buy or save the music? What’s missing between “what’s this track” and “it’s mine”?

  4. What would make you open it tomorrow again?

iPhone only for now. There’s a simple web player at if you want a listen first (playback only, the tracing lives in the app).

Thanks for checking it out.

congrats on the launch! I love the idea of having a radio app and directly adding songs to my playlist in spotify and not having to switch apps all the time (normal radio apps, shazam, spotify, back to radio app). BUT: How do you pick the independent stations? Can listeners suggest new ones?
Also: why not Indie/Rock? :) I get that there should be commercial radio stations. But I'd love to see my favorite radio station egoFM there!

Thanks so much! That app-switching dance (radio → Shazam → Spotify → back) is exactly why I built this, so it’s great to hear it lands.

How I pick stations: by ear, honestly. I look for independent stations with their own sound and DJs who dig deep, the kind where you keep hearing tracks you’ve never heard before.

Suggestions: yes, please! You can send them from Settings → Support in the app, or via . Every suggestion gets a listen.

Why no indie/rock (yet)? I started with the music I know and love best: house, techno, disco, italo, funk, soul and synth. I’d rather do a few genres really well than many genres half. But I’m definitely not ruling it out, and egoFM is going on my listening list. Thanks for the tip!
