What's the incentive to put content into the app? We worked on what we called "welcome kits" back in 2013 --> http://blog.ohheyworld.com/welco... (note we've since taken OHW down, so you can't click to see the actual city specific welcome kits anymore -- but the blog post should give you an idea for the approach we were taking) Big take away was there simply wasn't much of (or any) incentive for most people to contribute content. Unless we paid them, or we had massive audience so they knew the content would be found/used/seen.

@drewmeyers Thanks for sharing it. We have an interesting hypothesis around the creation bit, how about we get on a call sometime - would love to discuss further with you on this? Want to understand more about what worked for your product/what didn't, it would be really helpful. I am reachable on prashant.sachan@trell.in.

Did you launch for iOS and Android at the same time? If not - what determined the priority of one above the other?
Prashant Sachan
@karthikeya_subramaniyam We planned to launch first of all in Mumbai,India. Before planning the roadmap of the project, we did a quick survey amongst the bloggers we were in touch with (contacts from our Instagram pilot). For a sample size of 100, 75% of them were on Android. So, we planned for Android first. We rolled out our MVP and underwent couple of iterations based on user feedback, once we were sure about the validation of our product hypothesis, we started planning for the iOS.

Could you share some stories that got the highest popularity on the platform?
Prashant Sachan
@priscilla_george Download the app and search some of following trails. They got high popularity on the platform- Adventure of a lifetime: Ladakh in 10 days Bicycling across Manali-Leh Foodgasm On The Streets Of Chandni Chowk, Delhi Best Street Food that I tried in Mumbai Best Cafes to try in Bangalore
Mayuri Dass
What is the most popular category/field people share videos on?
Prashant Sachan
@mayuri_dass Travel, Weekend Getaways is an aspirational category, thus it has higher share as compared to other categories. Being a platform about Travel and Local experiences, the positioning is helping us get balanced responses from local as well- it's a fine mix and going as per our prediction.

What is next for Trell? Where do you see it in 5 years?
Prashant Sachan
@shruthi_kalasani Our mission is to democratize local knowledge by helping millennials exchange travel & local explorations seamlessly in a mobile-first world. So, five year from now, we want to be go-to platform for discovering as well as sharing travel & local experiences. Not just that, we are building technology that will help users accomplish the things that they always wanted to tryout. We will inspire and enable people to go explore their city, their town, the whole of world.

How do you police content? I would think it is much easier with text than in your case, with video?
Prashant Sachan
@advika_ghosh Yes, that is a very important thing to look at for a platform like ours. Trell is all about User generated content. So the policing is also crowd sourced, we take prompt actions on user reports.
