How do you find a specific moment in old video footage?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately.
For people who work with a lot of video, one of the most annoying problems is remembering that a useful moment exists somewhere in an old archive, but not being able to find it again without scrubbing through everything manually.
I’m curious how people here handle this today.
If you need to find:
a spoken line from an old interview
a visual moment from past footage
a clip buried somewhere in local folders, external drives, or a NAS archive
what does your workflow actually look like?
Do you rely on folder structure, file names, transcripts, notes, editing timelines, or something else?
I’m especially interested in how people deal with footage they already own, not just cloud content or freshly recorded material.
