Now shipping: Codex Media Cleanup for safer local session cleanup

by

We just shipped Codex Media Cleanup v1.0.2 in TraceFence's signed Plugin Center.

Codex and ChatGPT sessions can accumulate duplicate media files and invalid local image_url references over time. The plugin:

• scans read-only before changing anything

• removes only superseded duplicate media while preserving effective conversation history

• repairs invalid local image_url values into API-compatible media references

• waits for Codex and ChatGPT to exit, verifies a backup, then uses atomic replacement and reparses the result

Everything runs locally on your Mac. There is no cloud upload, and the plugin requests no permissions.

Requirements: TraceFence 1.2.4 or later and macOS 14 or later. It is included with TraceFence Standard.

See it in the Plugin Center:

I would love feedback from anyone with media-heavy Codex histories: what would you want the scan report to explain before cleanup?
