Thunkable ✕ - The platform where anyone can build their own mobile apps

by

Thunkable ✕ is a cross-platform app builder that enables anyone to build their own native mobile apps. All apps built on Thunkable ✕ work for both Android and iOS devices. You can easily design beautiful apps, program powerful functionality with drag & drop blocks and then upload your apps to the Google Play Store and App Store.

Can I build an app to access the photo and video camera functions of the device
Yue Xi
@scott_valentine Yes, I made one similar, I just followed their tutorials on the right.

One of the best ideas ever to enable everyone to develop and test apps for IOS AND Android with the same development environment.

@karl_hermann_rollke we think so too!

Hi there, I am an ios developer but I also work as a teacher of informatics in secondary education. Your product reminds me scratch, a program that I teach to my students. This is a great work but I have one question: can someone build large scale apps with your platform, maintain them easily, use architectural patterns, and many many other technics that are so important if you want to build something really professional?
Albert Sanchez
@tdermaris Yes is good enough to get done anything of that, you can build complex data flows, it has to ability to program as a programming language without the headache of learning the syntax or grammar, that's what they call "blocks"

Do you have live examples somewhere of apps built using your platform?
Arun Saigal
@andreflores87 If you go to https://thunkable.com/, we have a number of examples on our homepage. You can see more in our example apps: https://docs.thunkable.com/thunk... Lastly, when you log in to our platform, we offer a number of sample apps to get you started.
Andre Flores
@aksaigal yeah but all I see are screenshots... anywhere I could go through the app templates that you guys are offering to remix?
Mark Friedman
@andreflores87 From that second link in Arun's reply (i.e https://docs.thunkable.com/thunk...) if you click on "Click to remix" link in any of the samples, you'll be able to see (as well as edit, live test and build) the apps. You'll also see some samples in your projects list when you log in.
Andre Flores
@doingthedream yeah I did click that the first time I found the homepage, but wanted to see some examples just not screenshots before I sign up. Oh well, thanks though!

Thunkable is awesome!
Wei Li
@kwindla Thanks!
Dhruv Parthasarathy
The design looks fantastic and the ability to actually live test seems even better than the standard app development flow (at least on XCode). Sounds really promising and gonna check it out!
Wei Li
@dhruvp Thanks! We love to get more feedback from you once you start working on projects!

I'd like to create an app in which I take a photo (from within the app) or load one from the library, and then overlay resizable items (images) from a gallery on that photo. Is it possible with your product?
Wei Li
@david_pripas Thanks for the feedback! We don't have that now, but will add that to our to-do list :)
Kara Ntumy
I think this product's concept is awesome - can't wait to try it out! A couple questions though; one, if I start building a simple app in Thunkable ✕, would it be possible to pass it onto an app developer to take it further in XCode? And two, can I upload UI designs from Photoshop or Sketch to build in Thunkable ✕ or do I have to design from scratch? Thanks!
Mark Friedman
@kara_ntumy On Q1, for now your professional app developer would have to recreate the app, using your Thunkable ✕ app as a guide. On Q2, we don't currently have the ability to upload UI designs from Photoshop or Sketch, but I'll definitely add that to our Feature Request list! Please do try us out and Happy Thunking!
