I made Thousand Threads over the course of five years (launched July 2020). As the sole developer, I was responsible for all programming, design, art, audio, and writing.
Ask me anything!
@rajasimon I used Unity. I've never worked with Godot, but it looks like a solid game engine and should almost certainly be capable of graphic styles like this.
The game is stunning, just bought it and really looking forward to sinking my teeth into it later on :)
I'd be really curious to know, is there a favorite location or interaction you enjoyed creating or playing perhaps that really stuck out to you @brett_j?
Loved the reviews you've gotten on Steam as well, getting mauled by a bear seems like a common experience I'll have to watch out for 😂
@calum Thanks, I hope you like it!
For my favorite thing, that’s tough. Most of it was fun and interesting to make. Coding-wise, there were constant problems to solve. The AI was a core part of that, and remains something I'm overall really proud of (even though I never reached my initial ambitions). I spent a ton of time refining the color palette for each region. Designing each region and hiding little spots to discover was pretty fun. Writing the letters was tough, but satisfying in the end. The makng the music was a ton of fun. It had been a long time since I did much musically, so it was I nice reminder of how fulfilling that can be.
And yeah, I’ve been really happy with the player response so far! Now just gotta get more people playing.
