Hey YC Aspirants, This a fun experiment. But also useful as we used 100+ real YC application data for the core analysis. The bot analyses your YC application on 13 key parameters and will share 3 key reasons for rejection.

Hey YC Aspirants, Here is a fun project. Get a rejection email for your YC application. While you all wait with abated breadth for the acceptance/rejection of your YC application, use this fun tool to get an early rejection. :-) We did analyze 100+ real YC applications (both accepted and rejected ones). While there may be many explained and unexplained reasons why YC might reject your application, we found 13 key aspects that were most common across all these applications. So, we built a prompt-based decision engine that will give you 3 reasons why you are (or may get) rejected by YC. Try and have fun. And some learning, too. -Siva
I think its more useful than fun, truly smart job. Congratulations and good luck!
this seems really cool, is there any platform where the previously accepted applications get a review on what they did right?
Interesting. I would love to see everyone else's anonymized rejection analysis or letter.
If the user decides to share, will list them for sure. Thanks for the suggestion.
Congratulations on your launch! 🎉 This seems like a fun way to make 'failing' more palatable and less personal- as self reflection only goes so far, and personal bias can get in the way from meaningful take away. 🥲 Are you thinking of adding a community aspect to this as well? I think a lot of users could connect over rejection and maybe a forum type of "share" feature would fit well here.
Discord server up. Please feel free to join.
I had been working in fintech for a while, and one of our partner banks advertised their new API as being able to return mortgage loan approval just in 5 minutes. Well, upon integration, the first results were more like "decline in 30 seconds". So it's like a flashback for me: get a rejection, fast! Jokes aside, feedback is crucial, many thanks to you for releasing this
Good idea, it will help founders hone their application so they can save on opportunity cost!
That’s the whole purpose. Thanks.
Trust me this one is super awesome for the folks like me to get early feedback about their idea… awesome… congratulations on your launch 😀
No MMR no YC. 😅
mostly it’s the founders’ profile and pedigree that matters
For pre MRR. Yes maybe. Post MRR, they didn't care I think.
could be. but I see enough comments on Reddit that says otherwise. And I know a few who have MRR but couldn’t get thru.
Okay let me be more succinct. You have to have a non-fleeting MRR that is growing. Non-fleeting meaning, there is a moat built in that won't be easily toppled. A moat that if fuelled with funding, outgrows challengers. And sure. A strong background helps. But I also see people out of high school getting funded, sometimes they spent their life hustling. TBH I think we are shifting away from auto-funding people that once worked at FAANG companies working one a very small piece in a very big team. The same people doesn't have what it takes to build companies. They might have had it one day, but 4-5 years of working on a very small module doesn't make you equipped to build startups, on the contrary. IMO. As a side note. I went through 1000s of YC companies last year, to figure out what ingredients they had. Usually, they had strong customer traction already, and a solid start of a product. More often than not, they had a strong business case, and not so much a tech case. Some had great tech cases as well, but usually it was 1 out of 10.
You make valid points. Nothing beats traction. And your observation fits most of the folks who got thru. My POV comes from folks who could not inspite of checking most of the boxes. Whenever MOAT and Potential becomes a ?, Founders’ profile and pedigree takes precedence. Given the fact most YC companies in any batch are idea or pre-customer stage, the latter scenario gets amplified a lot.
Great idea, should be very helpful for the founders who is going after the funding. All the best.
Wow, gread idea!
Impressive! YC Rejection is here to help YC aspirants make better applications. How does it work? What data did you use? I'm excited to learn more!
