The Universal Mirror - A public artwork powered by human emotion

by
The Universal Mirror is a public artwork that asks one anonymous question in its first season: Do you feel happy right now? No accounts. No tracking. No personal data. Every response becomes part of a generative visual “mirror” that evolves as people around the world take part. The project explores whether collective emotion can be captured and visualised without profiling individuals. It takes 20 seconds to contribute.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built The Universal Mirror as an experiment at the intersection of art, psychology and technology. I wanted to explore a simple question: Can collective emotion be made visible without tracking individuals? Most “mood” or “wellbeing” tools rely on accounts, profiles and personal data. I wanted to try the opposite approach — strict anonymity by design. The public edition runs in seasons. Season 1 asks a single question: Do you feel happy right now? Every response feeds a generative artwork that evolves as participation grows. I’d love feedback, ideas and questions ❤️
