You can build anything. Then nobody comes. Anyone else?

If you're a technical founder, you know the feeling. Nights, weekends, straining of relationships, your own money go into something genuinely world class. You ship it. And then... crickets. Nothing. Nada.

So you go looking for help, and your AI tells you it looks amazing, your friends tell you it looks amazing, and nobody will say the actual truth: your positioning is vague, "for developers" isn't a customer, your landing page is awful and no one can tell what the thing even does.

That gap, between being able to build anything and freezing on who it's for and why anyone would pay, is where I've spent years, both as a founder and advising dev-tool founders through it. So I'm building The GTM Co-Founder: open-source Agent Skills that run inside the coding agent you already use (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex). It reads your repo, ask the hard questions, and build you a real go-to-market plan, then works it with you one move at a time. Basically the co-founder who says what your team won't.

We're launching here soon. Before we do, I'd genuinely love this community's take:

  • What was your hardest moment after shipping your product?

  • What's the one piece of GTM advice you wish someone had told you straight, and early?

  • If an honest GTM co-founder lived in your terminal, what's the first question you'd want it to ask you?

Thanks,

Shane

I'm a new-to-consulting API DX specialist with a product idea, and I ran the GTM Co-Founder after I'd already used AI to build a business plan that I wasn't happy with. It's a great product with just the right process!!
I loved that it forced me to mark each of my answers as "validated" or "assumption" and went through what i have and don't have in the order I should have started out with.

When I already had good written content for the answers, it went and found them (when prompted) and even asked for verification that what it understood was accurate.

The "What do they use today instead, and why you over that?" question is perfect. I hadn't stopped to answer this directly before and its crucial.

It very quickly held up a mirror clarifying that I'm dragging my feet talking to users. I'm actually looking forward to making traction now so I can move on to the rest of the process!

that's wonderful to hear Aliza. Thank you so much for that feedback.
