At the same time, I noticed something interesting: Most people spend a lot of time thinking about investing… but far less time thinking about controlling their money. But the reality is simple: Step one isn’t investing. Step one is controlling your budget. All I really wanted was something that could answer a basic question quickly: “Am I actually in control of my spending?” So we decided to build the budgeting app we wished existed. Tally is designed to be focused, fast, and free of clutter. No complicated setup, no financial jargon, and no giant dashboards trying to track your entire financial life. Just a simple way to see where your money is going and stay on top of it. The philosophy behind it is pretty straightforward: Before worrying about stocks, crypto, or the next big opportunity… it probably makes sense to get your budget under control first. That’s really what Tally is for. Right now, Tally is built specifically for Canadians, so the experience is tailored to how money and banking works here.
