Launching Tab Lifeboat on Oct 20: tab backups that survive the browser
Hi everyone, I'm launching Tab Lifeboat here on Tuesday, October 20.
It's a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. Within a minute of every change it backs up every window, tab group and tab, and every hour it writes a backup file outside the browser profile. When a crash, a bad update or a reinstall takes your tabs, you pick the moment before and restore everything, one window, one group or one tab. No account, no servers of mine.
Before the launch I'd like to ask two things:
How did you last lose tabs, and did you get them back?
What would make you trust a backup tool with your browsing: the permissions, an open file format, something else?
I'll read every answer, and what I learn goes into the launch page and the help pages.
