It blows my mind why "light" apps need to be "designed for India." Why can't the rest of us have access to light and fast app that just work? That language from Skype is almost insulting, IMO. What do you guys think?
I agree. They should understand it should be for everyone who doesn't have let's say much memory on phone and want to have faster apps. That really sucks
Is this the version of Skype made with React Native?
The same questions I was asking myself.
Facebook launched a "Lite" version of its app years ago for those with access to low bandwidth areas, now Skype's launching their own a week after launched. Side note: See the last screenshot in the Google Play store. TIL Skype has bots. 🤔
There's this significant feature that's in the pipeline. Skype to feature Aadhaar based identity authentication in India 🇮🇳
Didn't realize this all these days. This is exciting now!
A lot of what Microsoft makes seems the opposite of Lite, so what this really should be called it Skype Done Right
Hopefully this initiative will result in some "trickle up" to the Skype Regular. I don't care about bandwidth usage, but I do care about how the app handles itself in challenging network conditions, how much power it uses, and how snappy the app behaves.
Hunted that a week ago, while it was still "Skype Mingo"
Wait, it's the same lite app?
yeah, check out the id: "com.skype.m2"
Funny thing is that Skype Lite was originally launched in 2009 as the company (then owned by eBay or maybe Silver Lake) tried to enter the mobile calling game on Android
It would be awesome if Microsoft let to download this version of Skype here in Cuba.
it's android -- you can just grap APK somewhere and install it
Skype is a telecommunication website or software which is nowadays used worldwide. Skype apk is actually 31.5 Mb. So it might be was a better option to build a lite version of Skype so that every user can use it. Skype is widely used for video as well as voice calling. So it was a better option to build its lite version of it. The lite version of the Skype is only 22 Mb with reduced features. So you can actually use it. If you need other support you can go to
