Hey everyone πŸ‘‹ I'm Artem, CPO and Co-founder at Spellar AI. We're thrilled to bring Spellar to the Product Hunt community today! A bit about my own journey: Years ago, when I joined my first international company, I passed the interview in English and was stoked. But then came the day-to-day interactions. I was so nervous about speaking English for the entire first year that I wrote scripts for myself for every meeting. This helped me feel more secure in what I said, but imagine the prep time! That's when I realized there's got to be a better wayβ€”and thus, the idea for Spellar was born. We are excited to help you conquer your English-speaking fears, just as I wish I could've conquered mine way back when. I can't wait to hear your feedback and answer any questions! Let's take your English to the next level, together! πŸš€ And by the way, which features are you most excited to try?

Hi! I must say I'm thoroughly impressed with the idea and concept behind it. Speaking from personal experience as a non-native English speaker, one of the initial barriers I faced was the overwhelming fear of making mistakes when communicating. I often found myself overthinking each phrase, sometimes to the extent that I'd lose my train of thought amidst conversations. Once I overcame this fear, realizing that making mistakes was a part of the learning curve, I began to err on the side of over-communicating, not always paying attention to the clarity of my pronunciation. This sometimes led to misunderstandings or having to repeat myself. I believe Speechy can help me with that and make me sure ensure that people understand me clearly. However, as of now, it seems to cater primarily to MacOS users. Given the potential reach and demand for such a tool, are there any plans to extend support for other platforms? I use a big variety of devices so a web version would be fantastic. Do you consider Android app? It seems to be helpful. So, I can run Speechy on the phone and don't care about suggestions on my screen during live presentation.

@denys_tsomenko amazing, as It seems like we've shared similar experiences in the journey of improving spoken English. You're absolutely right. Currently, our focus is on the macOS ecosystem. However, our mission is to integrate passive improvement into users' lives as extensively as possible. Therefore, we have plans to expand to more desktop versions and, eventually, include mobile devices as well. So don't forget to subscribe to our new channels to stay informed about upcoming releases! :)

@denys_tsomenko Thank you for sharing your experience and for your kind words about Speechy! It's amazing to hear how closely your journey aligns with the issues we're trying to solve. The fear of making mistakes and overthinking language is something many non-native speakers can relate to, and we're glad to hear you think Speechy could help with that

@denys_tsomenko @zinovii_z Good question - was wondering the same thing
Zinovii Zubko
@denys_tsomenko @jax_jackson It's a valid question/request indeed, as we're aware of the market segment we're excluding by currently focusing only on macOS users. However, we have plans to expand to other platforms and create a robust Speechy ecosystem, complete with a well-developed product and mature features.

Hey folks! My name is Zinovii, I'm CEO & Founder at Speechy AI. I want to share a story about how the project was invented. When I moved to London as a non-native English speaker, I had a funny experience in restaurants. I accidentally ordered a "diet c..k" instead of "diet Cola" many times. After this happened about 15 times, I thought, "I don't wanna order diet genitals anymore." Later on, I realized that apart from dining in fancy restaurants, we often find ourselves in lengthy meetings where English is the primary language of communication. As non-native English speakers, there are always concerns about pronouncing words accurately and using appropriate phrases. Additionally, making simple grammar mistakes can be quite frustrating. This realization led me to develop a tool that can seamlessly integrate into your daily life. This tool can listen to your speech, provide English feedback, and guide you during your online meetings, all of which help you enhance your communication skills in a passive manner. While it's our first public release, the tool is already functioning exceptionally well and can certainly enhance your speaking skills. Moreover, it's currently available for free, so I invite you to join and give it a try!

I was excited to try this out and was immediately stopped by an Apple account being the only login option. You have highlighted it's privacy centric but tying the app to an apple login really defeats that purpose.
Artem Konovalov πŸ’Ž
@puppycodes Good point, Alice. Appreciate the feedback on the Apple-only login. We're always looking for ways to improve both convenience and privacy. Will definitely consider other login options like Google / Facebook Sign In. Apple was the fastest way for us and since it's just the very first Public Beta launch, we focused on the easiest ways to get it to the release. Thanks for keeping us on our toes! πŸ‘€πŸ›

@mattisssa thanks for considering my point! That being said i'd push for email + password + 2factor without a third party provider ;)
Yurii
I was lucky enough to try the app in beta and I’m surprised how smoothly it works. The UX is convenient and intuitively straightforward. Are you planning to stick to English language or expand to bigger language set in the future?
Zinovii Zubko
@york_io thank you for your kind words. Currently, we're concentrating on mastering English speaking skills, but we're considering adding Spanish later on. What are your thoughts on this? Which language would you like to see next on Speechy?
Yurii
@zinovii_z thanks for your reply! It’s always great to see founders gaining feedback from the customers :) Personally, I’d be interested in German, which, I’m assuming, to be less popular demand option than Spanish, French or Asian languages. Thus, my question was more intended to see your vision. For me improving English language is about rebuilding my language habits, that I already developed. And while using Speechy for this - I started thinking - what if I had access to it when I just started learning English. To add to this - I’ve just started learning German a week ago. I’d be interested in learning correct pronunciations from the very beginning. So, was very interested to learn about this vision for Speechy. As I’m very enthusiastic about the app.
Artem Konovalov πŸ’Ž
Hi Yurii, Thanks for your great feedback! We're really happy to hear you're excited about Speechy. Your idea about starting with good habits in a new language like German is spot-on and something we're planning for the future. Thanks for being such an awesome part of our community! https://share.cleanshot.com/PRYh...

I've been using Speechy for a while now, and I must say that certain features have genuinely impressed me. The ability to check grammar and pronunciation has proven to be incredibly useful in fine-tuning my communication. While it might not have completely transformed my life, it has certainly made a positive impact on my online meetings. Kudos to the team for developing such a handy tool!

πŸ’‘ Bright idea
Amazing work guys, I really like the concept and this is one of the best applications of AI I have seen. The platform you have built offers limitless potential for adding new features, and I imagine it can grow into a tool that can help with speaking skills in general. Do you already have a plan for what is coming next? Feature request to consider: would be great if it could assist in speaking to women.
Zinovii Zubko
@arthur_khusnullin Thank you so much for the feedback. Rest assured, we have planned and already scoped out a bunch of features for the near future. Some of these include: #1: Further improving our core feature of English speaking analysis. #2: Advancing our Speaking Copilot for real-time suggestions. As for your request, I think it could be a good addition to our Speaking Copilot to boost your confidence when speaking to the opposite gender. How do you envision this? Would you prefer having it real-time with online tips? Do you think suggestions like "imitating the speaking style of a popular celebrity or movie character" would be useful for this specific use-case?
Artem Konovalov πŸ’Ž
@arthur_khusnullin > Feature request to consider: would be great if it could assist in speaking to women. Ahaha, Arthur this is the nice one πŸ‘πŸ’‘
