I'm excited to share Spectro — a high-quality video compression tool that helps you reduce file sizes without sacrificing visual quality.

Spectro was born out of a real need: I often shoot a lot of videos on my iPhone and found myself not only running out of storage space, but also needing a better way to share large videos quickly without burning through mobile data. I wanted to compress videos down to 10% of their original size while keeping the original visual quality for sharing online — fast, efficient, and reliable.

Most compression tools either degraded visual quality too much or lacked the advanced controls I needed — like fine-tuning FFmpeg parameters, doing 1:1 visual comparisons between original and compressed versions, remotely controlling my Mac for overnight batch compression, or enabling a read-only “kiosk” mode so my kids could safely browse our family videos. So I built my own.
