BetterSnap Tool is the absolute #1 thing I installed on my Mac: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/...

@nivo0o0 Does this work for apps and software? Tabs won't work on Scrivener which I use to write.

I still use Divvy for my window management, it has customizable keyboard shortcuts too! http://mizage.com/divvy/

@imkevinxu Divvy vs Spectacle which do you like better?

What I love about Spectacle is that it's all hot key based...so great for doing development on Mac

I've been using a similar app called Cinch for a while. You drag the windows to resize (side by side, one in every corner, etc.). It now feels weird when I am on a Mac without it. http://www.irradiatedsoftware.co...

Been using spectacle for a while and really wish Apple had this functionality built into their OS. Also great to see the code on Github: https://github.com/eczarny/spect...

@michaelcarrano I agree it needs to be built in. Probably one of the only decent things on Windows (I cannot believe I just said that!).

Good old SizeUp for me :) http://www.irradiatedsoftware.com

The feature I wished was in one of these window managers is for the keyboard shortcut to only affect the current tab of Safari/Chrome... so you could have a stack of tabs on one side of the screen and then use one key command to pull the current tab out of the stack and move it to the other side of the screen.

I like this tool. It's simple, free and doesn't get in your way. You just set the hotkeys you want to use and manage your windows with comfort. It's also open source: https://github.com/eczarny/spect...

Pros:

Simplicity, configurable keyboard shortcuts, doesn't get in your way, free and opensource

Cons:

No mouse dragging behaviour

Been wanting to dump Moom for a while. Excited to play with this

@zackshapiro what don't you like about moom?
Zack Shapiro
@johnsheehan I don't know specifically, I just never liked it

If you're into keyboard shortcuts with Spectacle, this will be helpful https://twitter.com/ZackShapiro/...

@zackshapiro most important to remember... option, command, arrows :)

love this but been using Cinch since last year. hot keys alone aren't enough incentive to switch. +1 for integrating this natively into Mac.

I've been using [ShiftIt](https://github.com/fikovnik/ShiftIt) for years. Sadly, it isn't really maintained anymore, and usually needs a bit of tweaking to work on the latest OSX builds. I'll give this a try!

@hailpixel He has been at it for a while now, works perfect up to macOS Sierra so far. Love this app too, free and no-nonsense. (last update 13 days ago)

I currently use Hyperdock. This could be its replacement!

Really nicely done, small footprint, big effects. Congrats!

If you prefer GUI, try Window Tidy, but its not free.

Prefer Better Snap Tool to this-- way more customizable with snap areas etc. http://www.boastr.net/ Better for power users in my opinion. And the ecosystem of apps Andreas Hegenberg has created are some of my favorites in the productivity realm.

I've using spectacle for a while now, one of the first thing I install after every format ;) Great work!
