I just discovered this the other day. I'm a big fan and demonstrates SoundCloud's focus on music discovery, competing with Spotify and Pandora. It reminds me of Hype Machine (pro tip: download the Plug Mac app).
Or the Hype Machine official app for Android or iOS, it is beautiful and very functional.
This is so helpful! I'm still waiting for a true recommendation system ala Spotify on steroids. I liked about 2,500 tracks, there should be a way to push me a suggested playlist (without limits), an offline mode (premium anyone?). So much potential there...
Holy cow, good call on the Plug app! Was not aware of it. Saves me from searching through my tabs to see which one is playing music :) One note on the Soundcloud charts. They've had it there for a long time now. What I've noticed though is that it doesn't have as quick a turnover as HypeMachine. I definitely turn to it occasionally though when HypeMachine is having an off day! This feature also used to be called "Browse" so I guess they've cemented it as a leaderboard.
Wait, isn't this just a rebranded Explore? Is there any new functionality?
I'm not 100% familiar with what Explore did but it's my understanding that it's a reimagining.
This is cool and appreciated but since this was a no-brainer I wonder what took them so long.

This is a gamechanger ⚡️ I've successfully avoided Spotify (can't get Pandora in Germany), so I've only been listening to Soundcloud and 8tracks.
Great new feature, can't wait to see how it evolves.
ABOUT TIME. SoundCloud's discovery has always been truly awful but this looks like a step in the right direction. Would be great if you could also have charts for mixtapes/sets in addition to just individual tracks.

thanks! When Beatport folded, we shut down for a long time and settled on Soundcloud as the new source for quality indie music. At the time they didn't have charts! You can see all the genres and such we track now Unfortunately the genre data is still quite bad. Soundcloud, however, employs some fine machine learning engineers. I'm putting my faith in them to better track the genres and more obscure sub-genres.
Nice! I love the discovery aspect of SoundCloud already. This is really going to help highlight artists outside of the "mainstream spotlight" to shine out a bit.
Love this feature, cancelled Apple Music as I didn't like their discovery element. This chart listing may also lead me to cancel Spotify Premium
I love using SoundCloud to hear new music and discover artists I've never heard of. This is a great compliment to also see some of the top songs that are being listened to. Great job!
Really glad to see Soundcloud step up their 'Explore' game. My initial dissatisfaction led to bringing back Console.fm as charting the top 100 . Very happy with this new IA and am hoping to see more discovery features in the future.
