Soulver 4 - Notepad, meet calculator

by
Soulver is a notepad calculator you can think through problems involving math in. Mix calculations with comments, and a live "answer column" calculates for you: currency & unit conversions, dates & times, percentages, time zones, variables, and more. All in a sheet you come back to. We pioneered this live-answer-column idea back in 2005 and have been refining it with more features & intelligence for 20 years. Native on Mac, iPad & iPhone — and a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Nik Youdale and I came up with this now-classic (and widely copied) concept for a new kind of calculator while we were still in high school, back in 2005. The idea was simple: put an auto-calculating column alongside a notepad, and show the most useful answer we can produce as you type. It would let you write words in alongside your numbers, with a capable math engine underneath — so you stay thinking at the level of your problem, not the arithmetic. We've been refining that idea for over 20 years now, releasing a major paid update every 7 years or so to stay sustainable. Our on-device math engine is best-in-class and available to other developers as a framework. Today I'm happy to announce the fourth major release of Soulver, with 50+ new features. Our calculation engine has new functions and units — for scientific calculations, working with tax and money, tracking change over time, and much more. There are new workflows for trip planning and for running statistics across tagged lines, and we've upgraded the editor with line highlighting and dividers. The new Soulver CLI is agent-friendly, and a new (free) HTML email service makes it easy to share a sheet with a friend or colleague. Soulver is now a universal purchase on the App Store (Mac, iPad and iPhone) — and, as always, it's a one-time purchase per major release, not a subscription.
