@nivo0o0, thanks for the hunt!
We’re super excited to announce the Sortd for Slack public beta release.
Rod, Brad and myself are here to answer any questions.
To give some insight into the origins of this product… Sortd for Gmail has become increasingly popular as an effective way to manage email. We’ve had tons of requests for the ability to share lists, tasks etc. Since privacy is a big deal when it comes to email we felt that it just made more sense to build on top of Slack for our team collaboration value prop (at least initially).
The main idea behind Sortd for Slack is that it’s a Trello-like experience, but the communication component is Slack itself, so you can chat to your team and manage an action plan in the same app. There are some great innovations that allow people to action conversations, but the ‘mainstream’ communication apps like Gmail and Slack are like magnets - it’s just too hard to leave them.
There are more integrations planned but Slack was an obvious fit to begin with. Hope you enjoy it, and really looking forward to your feedback!
@clarkvalberg finally... welcome to the party ;-) Thanks for the vote of confidence. Love what you guys have been up to as well. Saw the Craft Freehand launch a few weeks back - legendary!
I wonder how Slack would react to this. It's VERY smart. I was part of a start up that created a messaging app that enabled users to turn chat messages to Action items. So this is very similar except leverages the Slack platform.
I love it and I thought about the same ideas couple of times since Slack has definitely became a place which slowly replaces business email in our company. I'm using Todoist extensively since few months and I love it (it replaced Trello).
An integration with todoist would make this product the perfect one for me or maybe I should consider switching over to Sortd? Is anyone using them as their main TODO list?
@arnaud_breton Yes, I am. Daily. And it's awesome. Switch! ;-) On a serious note, integrations like that are on the roadmap. For now I would say it depends on what Todoist features you use extensively. If you aren't doing anything too fancy then I think it would be viable to switch.

This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for recently
@venkatkorvi You can sign in with any Gmail account if you are concerned about privacy. We just use it for authentication. The permissions are set this way because it syncs up with your Sortd for Gmail account (if you use Sortd for Gmail). Slack-only authentication will be an option at a later point.
Sortd's client needs U2F support so that Google accounts using U2F can register/login/use their product.
EDIT: and a way to switch Google accounts.. Now that I've logged into one, I can't log into the other (or switch Google accounts at all). Really messy account management going on with this. Now the app is unusable because I can't find a way to clear the Google account data....
