Free, no ads, files never leave your device. So what's the catch?
by•
It's the first question friends asked when I showed them https://convert.softorino.com, and it's fair, free converters usually pay for themselves with ads, tracking, or your files. The honest answer: the catch is that some of you will like it enough to look at the paid Mac apps I work on. That's the whole model, a good free tool as the introduction. Launch is this Sunday (Aug 30), so before then I want to hear it straight: what makes you trust a free tool, and what instantly kills that trust?

I think “files never leave your device” is a big trust point for me. I’d feel pretty comfortable using it
@yelyzaveta_kibets Honestly, “files never leave your device” is already a strong trust signal. If that’s true and the tool stays transparent, I don’t really need much more convincing.

@lucas_cook2Â That's the bet I'm making, that one honest sentence beats 10 trust badges. Transparent also has to mean staying transparent when something breaks, which is why I'm collecting the failure cases here before Sunday. Thanks for weighing in, this is exactly the input I wanted.
I don’t expect everything to be free forever. i just want to know what happens to my files and what the free tool includes.
