After being a fractional CFO for 3 years and interviewing over 300 other fractional executives, it's clear to me that working fractionally is the future for executives. So what does "fractional work" mean? It's when someone fills a set role within a company but works <20 hours per week in that role. It's pretty much part-time work with a new name, and startups and executives are loving it. The problem is that the only way for executives to gain new clients is through networking. For startups, they primarily find their fractional executives through referrals. If you're a startup founder and you don't have a large network, or VCs backing you, good luck! This is why my co-founder and I created Shiny. Well, actually it started as SiliconCFO back in the day. The past year has seen us grow and change in ways we never expected as we grew our community, put v1 of our platform into the world, SiliconCFO turned into Shiny, new roles became available on our platform (CMO, CTO, and COO), the ODX1 cohort kicked off and finished, and now finally v2 of our platform has launched. Shiny is a marketplace matching vetted fractional executives to startups. Vetted Executives. We vet every fractional executive before bringing them onto the marketplace. This ensures that everyone is highly experienced. White-glove Matching. Every job post on Shiny gets matched to between 3 and 5 executives, minimizing the work needed for both startups and executives to find their ideal partners. Community Support. Our community for fractional executives gives them the support they need to succeed and help startups succeed. Back-office and communications. Our platform now supports invoicing & payment processing, contract sending & signing, 1099s (via Stripe), and messaging between companies and executives. @rrhoover Hey Ryan! You remember correctly, we expanded outside of just fractional CFOs in November to CMOs, CTOs, and COOs. Since then, the demand has been almost an even split across the four roles, with some requests also coming in for CROs, CCOs (compliance), and CPOs (product). You can guess which three roles we'll be creating communities for next :)

Our approach to redesign involved collecting hundreds of feedback from our users and community through LinkedIn, Twitter, Slack, ODX, and more! We also personally interviewed numerous executives and founders to create a platform to satisfy each user needs.
