Hi, I wanted to copy a long url from my phone to my computer, but didn't want to memorize the url then transfer it one after the other which would break my flow, so I created ShareTXT, a free tool to help share text between any browser in real time. It is very easy to use. Simply visit the website on both devices and paste the text to share. All you need is a browser and an internet connection. Enjoy and keep hacking!

@rexthonyy Hi Rex, if you need to copy URLs between your devices just enable Handover in macOS and iOS settings.
Rex Anthony
@antwan Thank you Antwan. I use a Windows and an android device. The app enables you to share data between any device independent of device-type. All that is required is a browser and an internet connection :)

@rexthonyy Nice! But you should mention at the home page that "default" is public and how to create a private room (y)

@bernhard_uellenberg That's a good idea. Thank you Bernhard.

WHAT IS THIS MAGIC? It's awesome! Can you please tell me how it knows which 2 devices are mine? Is it using IP address?
Rex Anthony
@purut18 Thank you man. It uses web sockets to connect multiple devices based on the route specified in the url. When you visit the website like this http://sharetxt.live, you are assigned to the default route. All devices in a route receive the broadcast message which is sent (except the sender of course). You can select any route in the url if you want some privacy like this http://sharetxt.live/something

@purut18 @rexthonyy My iPhone is on 4g and my computer is on my home wifi. How does it know the devices are mind? Like... why am I not seeing what everyone else in the world is typing on /default
Primer
@purut18 @rexthonyy Oh wait... I can see what everyone else in the world is typing lol. I get it now.
Puru Thakkar
@rexthonyy So everyone can see what I am typing? 😳
Rex Anthony
@purut18 Hello Puru, you can see how many people are currently connected to the route that you specified in the url. If you visit the website like this http://sharetxt.live, you will be assigned to the default route. You can use any route like this http://sharetxt.live/something

Wow, it was so fast and effective testing it with two tabs. I had to check if I opened the same tab. Nice one Rex! Very great tool.
Rex Anthony
@iamajibolasegun Thank you bro. Hope you find it useful :)
Bilal Tahir
That's really cool! How does the tech work? How do you know which browsers to connect?
Rex Anthony
@bilater Thanks Bilal. The app uses web sockets to enable real time data transfer between connected clients. Clients are connected based on the route that is specified in the url such as http://sharetxt.live/ {something}. All clients in a route are connected and can communicate between themselves. The route could be any string

@rexthonyy That's really neat! :)
