Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm the solo developer behind SHADOW (ТЕНЬ in Russian — it means "shadow"). The idea came from a simple frustration: why does every messenger need my phone number just to send a message? I wanted something truly ephemeral — you chat, it disappears, no traces. Built this in one month. The stack: Flask + Socket.IO on the backend, vanilla JS on the frontend, PostgreSQL as a temporary store (messages live exactly 5 minutes), Android via Trusted Web Activity. The hardest part was getting push notifications to work reliably without Firebase — pure VAPID implementation with a service worker that handles badge counts correctly across iOS PWA and Android TWA. Fun fact: the name ТЕНЬ means "Shadow" in Russian — because good conversations should disappear like shadows.
