I've been beta testing Setapp and it works as advertised. It's incredibly simple to get information about the app before you actually install and launch it for the first time and all the apps live in their own Setapp folder so your Applications folder won't get cluttered. The team seems to be adding more apps every week. Very useful service!

@ourielohayon Right now you can use Setapp on up to two devices simultaniously. We are planning to offer family accounts a bit later.

Sounds very promising. Is it legal? Because that's obvious that these app's manufacturers are loosing the money.

@alexdeardream The developers choose to participate in Setapp. I doubt they would participate if it wasn't financially feasible for them. As a subscription they stand to actually earn more money long term than if they only sold their app à la carte.

can you tell us a little about your payout model for the devs providing the applications? is my monthly fee split among only the apps i use? or does it all go into a large bucket and is then shared depending on the frequency of use?

@gopietz Thank you for a good question. We share 70% of each user fee among the developers of applications that were used by a particular customer. In other words, we calculate developers’ shares in profit per each user separately. On top of it, we give guaranteed 20% of a user fee to the Partner ​who has brought this particular user.
