What should an AI Agent do for a business?

by•

Hey Product Hunt community 👋

We launched Wize AI Agent by REVE Chat today, and I wanted to start a quick discussion around something we’ve been thinking about:

What actually separates an AI Agent from a traditional chatbot for a business?

For years, chatbots mostly answered FAQs, collected basic details, or routed visitors. Helpful, but often limited when customers needed real guidance or suggestions.

Expectations have clearly shifted and people want help choosing the right product, understanding options, getting support, or moving toward a purchase without friction.

So the question becomes:

What should an AI Agent be able to do that a traditional chatbot usually cannot?

A few possibilities we have considered and worked on for Wize AI Agent:

  • Understanding customer intent more accurately

  • Asking useful and better follow-up questions

  • Recommending relevant products or services intuitively

  • Qualifying leads before handing them to sales

  • Guiding visitors through support or buying journeys

  • Knowing when to involve a human agent

Wize AI Agent is our attempt to solve this across support, sales, lead qualification, and customer journeys.

I’d love to hear from other makers and product folks:

  • When does a chatbot become an AI Agent in your eyes?

  • Which capability matters most for a business website, social channels, etc?

  • Are there some more key capabilities than an AI Agent needs to have for this industry/space?

Here’s our launch if you wish to check it out and give some great feedback:

I like the direction you're taking with Wize AI Agent. For me, an AI agent isn't just about answering questions—it should understand context, make decisions, and actually take actions. That's what truly separates an agent from a chatbot.

 Agreed on your point completely!
