We built a Chrome extension that tells you if you're overpaying β before you hit "buy"
Hey hunters π
I'm Tony, founder of WEM. We launched today and I'd love your honest take.
The problem: Online prices in the UK are a mess. The same product is Β£20 cheaper one tab over, "sale" prices are often fake, and price-tracking tools make you do the work. I got tired of manually checking 5 retailers before every purchase.
What WEM does: It's a free Chrome extension that sits quietly in the background. When you're on a product page, it instantly compares prices across UK retailers and tells you:
π° If there's a cheaper seller right now
π Whether today's "deal" is actually a deal (real price history, not the fake "was Β£99" stuff)
β When you're already getting the best price, so you can just buy with confidence
No spreadsheets, no 12 open tabs. It just works while you shop.
Why I built it: I kept getting burned by "discounts" that weren't, and I figured if it annoyed me, it annoyed everyone. So we made the thing I wished existed.
It's free, takes ~10 seconds to install, and we don't sell your data.
π Would genuinely love feedback β what would make you actually keep an extension like this installed? What's the one feature that'd make it indispensable for you?
Thanks for checking it out π https://www.producthunt.com/products/wem?launch=wem

Wow, this is exactly the kind of frictionβless shopping tool I've been wishing for! Love how it instantly surfaces cheaper options and validates deals without opening a dozen tabs. One thing that could make it indispensable for me is a priceβalert feature that notifies when a product drops below a set threshold while I'm browsing. If you're up for it, I'm launching The Sponge on PH soon β an AIβpowered flashcard app that turns any webpage into study material. Would appreciate a follow!
@rianbrobΒ Thanks Rian, this genuinely made my day π
You nailed it β killing the "dozen tabs" ritual was the whole reason I built this, so it's great to hear that lands for you.
And funny you mention price alerts β it's literally at the top of our roadmap. The vision is exactly what you described: set a target price, keep browsing, and WEM pings you the moment it actually drops below (using real price history, not a fake "was" price). Going to bump it up the priority list now that I'm seeing the demand β I'll make sure you're one of the first to try it when it ships.
The Sponge sounds awesome β turning any webpage into flashcards is such a smart use of AI, and honestly something I'd use myself for research. Just followed you, and I'd love a heads-up when you go live so I can support the launch π
Best of luck with it!
