I built an AI- powered interview & career practice platform - here's what i learned building it.

by

I've been building an AI-powered Interview and career practice platform(Ultimate AI Interviewer) designed to help people practice interviews, improve communication, and understand where they need to grow.

what started as an interview-practice idea gradually became a much broader career platform.

Along the way, I ended up Building:

  1. AI Powered interview practice with an interactive interviewer for corporate roles, competitive exams, higher education, and government-related opportunities.(STAR method evaluation, Non- communication and communication analysis).

  2. Coding practice and evaluation.

  3. Hiring readiness and performance indicators.

  4. Resume and career-oriented features.

  5. Live Practice and Mentor Interactions.

  6. Social and community features for career growth.

  7. An AI assistant that adapts to different use cases based on what the user needs- from interview guidance and mentorship to general conversations.

Building all of this taught me something i didn't expect:

Adding an AI feature is often much easier than deciding whether that feature actually deserves to exist.

As the platform grew, I had to think much more carefully about AI reliability, API costs, UX complexity, and whether each feature genuinely improved the experience rather than simply making the product look more impressive.

I'm still iterating and learning with many capabilities, how do you decide what should remain, what should be simplified, and what should be removed?

And more importantly, what signals helped you make those decisions?

i'd love to hear what you've learned from your own products and from your building journey.🙌🏻
