I built a low-maintenance personal finance app for Canadians

Hey everyone!

I’m Brian, a software engineer working in finance and the solo founder of Boreal.

I built Boreal because most personal finance tools either require people to constantly maintain a detailed budget or are designed primarily for US users, with Canadian banking treated as an afterthought.

Boreal connects your financial accounts and automatically helps you understand:

• Where your money is going

• How your spending and income are changing

• What is affecting your monthly cash flow

• What your finances may look like in the months ahead

The goal is not to give you another dashboard to manage. Boreal is designed to explain what changed, why it matters, and what you may want to pay attention to next.

The product is still early, so I’m especially looking for honest feedback on:

• Whether the value is immediately clear

• What would make you trust a new financial app

• Which insights would make you come back each month
