How do you connect a video hook to a SaaS demo without making it feel like clickbait?

I’m building UGC People, a library of human-shot reaction clips and B-roll for product videos. One use case is putting a short reaction and a relevant caption before an app demo.

The part I’m thinking about most is the connection between the opening and the product. A surprised face might grab attention, but the demo still needs to deliver on what the caption promises.

For example, for a tool that automates a repetitive task, I’d try:

“Wait, I’ve been doing this manually?”

Then immediately show the task being completed in the app, followed by a clear next step.

I experimented with this format for another SaaS on a fresh Instagram account. After about ten days and ten posts, one video reached 100k views. But I hadn’t included a clear CTA, so I couldn’t tell how much useful business attention it generated. It was a reminder that views alone aren’t the outcome.

That experience informs what I’m building at : footage you can use to introduce your own demo, with the hook and editing left to you.

For makers who have tried short product videos, how do you keep the opening relevant to what you’re selling? I’d especially like to hear about examples that brought qualified visitors or signups, and how you measured that.
