Hey PH — I'm Travis. I build small tools for people who hate software.

I've spent a lot of years in IT and cybersecurity inside the service industry.

Long enough to watch good plumbing and HVAC shops get sold software built for

companies ten times their size, and then pay per seat for the privilege.

So now I build a handful of small products, all on the same rule: find a real

problem, solve it, keep the tool small enough that someone can actually trust it.

The one I'm launching here soon is CopyThat — dispatch for shops running 2 to 10

trucks. One board for the owner. The techs never install anything; they get a

text and text back. Flat price, no per-seat.

The part I didn't expect to enjoy is saying no. It doesn't do invoicing. It

doesn't do estimates. It doesn't do GPS tracking. Every time I cut something, the

product got easier to explain — and "it doesn't do that" turned out to be a

perfectly respectable answer.

Still pre-launch. Zero customers. Learning most of this in public.

If you're building for an industry that's already been burned by software once,

I'd genuinely like to hear how you got people to trust yours.
