Aurora PDF Compressor β Compress PDFs locally in your browser. No uploads. No limits. No account.
Hi Product Hunt! π
We built compress.aurorapdf.com because we kept running into the same problem.
Every time we needed to shrink a scanned contract or a heavy report to squeeze it under a 25MB email limit, the only options meant uploading the file to a third-party cloud server. For sensitive work documents, that never felt right to us.
So we built something different.
Here is how it works:
- π 100% local processing β Your file never leaves your device. Everything runs inside your browser tab using your machine's memory. No server. No storage. Nothing.
- ποΈ Three compression levels β Extreme, medium, and light. The light preset is specifically tuned to keep scanned text sharp instead of turning it into a blurry mess.
- β No account. No watermark. No daily cap. Open the page, drop your file, get a smaller one back.
Where we are still improving:
Very large files on low-RAM machines will slow your browser down. Client-side processing has limits and it is something we are actively working on.
If you handle sensitive documents and want to keep them off third-party servers, we think you will find this genuinely useful.
We would love to hear how it holds up with your files. Drop any questions or feedback below π

Wow, love the idea of keeping everything on-device! The local...only approach is perfect for sensitive docs, and the three compression levels...especially the light preset for scanned text are a smart touch. If you're up for it, I'm launching The Sponge on PH soon...an AIβpowered flashcard app that turns any webpage into study material. Would appreciate a follow (see PRODUCT HUNT LAUNCH link in my profile).
