SafeTube - A safe and focused video player for YouTube and Vimeo

I'm blown away by the simplicity and functionality of Astrosafe's free video player.

Kudos to the Astrosafe team for creating SafeTube! It's been a long time since I was a teacher (and student!) but back then would have been really exited by a distraction-free, ad-free video experience for kids & teachers. Well done on addressing a real need in a cluttered digital space! 👍

I'm not an educator, but I am a parent. After checking out SafeTube, I can definitely appreciate the need for a tool like this and I applaud you for developing it. YouTube is a practically essential medium for information sharing, but as it's designed to distract and engross its viewers, using it in a safe and controlled way has always been extremely difficult. You've addressed this problem admirably. My one problem with it is that the video's CC and settings buttons are disabled. This tool would be much more useful if these options (especially captions) could remain accessible.

This is a great tool for my high school science classroom. My students tend to get distracted, so reducing potential distractions will be a big help.
