๐Ÿฑโ€๐Ÿ‘ค What should a Product Hunt launch draft look like?

byโ€ข

Iโ€™d love to share a few things I figured out while preparing our Product Hunt launch - and I'd love for experienced makers and hunters to add their own advice.

Hereโ€™s what I learned:

๐ŸŽฅ Cover video

If possible, include real people even briefly. Seeing the makers behind a product can create more trust and connection.

If you don't have people in the video, try to make it feel natural and real rather than simply showing product screenshots.

And if possible, choose a thumbnail where people can see a human face rather than just text or a UI screenshot.

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Media

Have at least 4-5 images showing your product, features, or use cases.

But don't overload them with text. Keep the copy short, clear, and big enough to understand quickly.

๐Ÿท๏ธ Tagline

Keep it short - but make sure it communicates what your product actually does.

Not always easy, especially when you have a complex product =D

๐Ÿ“ Description

Be descriptive and clear. If your product gets featured, your PH page can also appear in search results.

Think about how someone discovering your product through Google or other search engines.

What would you add or change? What makes a great Product Hunt launch page in your experience?

On the cover video, one thing from making screen recordings for landing pages: leave the cursor's hesitation in. A take where the pointer overshoots a button and comes back reads as somebody using the thing, and the perfectly smooth take reads as a rehearsal.

I also enjoy demo process โ€“ย so you can partially be a part of the onboarding and demo testing.
