Best
We used Product Hunt's API to create a quick hack that allows PH readers to receive a web notification whenever a hunt reaches 100 upvotes. Find the best hunts without having to wait for the daily email. You have to opt-in using Safari Mavericks (other browser support is imminent), but you DONT need to keep Safari open to receive the notifications. If you use another browser by default, that's fine. You'll still receive the notifications. Roost proper was on Product Hunt a couple months back. if you want to know how web push works.
This looks incredible :D
Thanks. We're looking forward to see how other's use the APIs. has done a smart thing in granting that sort of access to his audience. Over at Roost we've made APIs available so others can extend their products with web push. And we just released a . So, please, come and play.
Great stuff! I already use the Producthunted Yo service that was hunted some time ago (so I def see the value in this), and in the beginning a threshold of 100 was perfect. But nowadays so many products get upward of a 100 votes, so I get Yo'd all the time. Basically, what I'm saying is that either letting users adjust the threshold or making it relative to how many votes have been given in the given day (or similar approaches) would be a great plus.
I was delighted when emailed me last night with a link to this. We're just beginning to roll out access to the Product Hunt API (signup here). This is a great use case of how you sites can use Roost. I'd love to integrate this into Product Hunt once Chrome is supported, which I'm told is coming soon (yay!). And for those on Yo, check out 's to receive a Yo when products hit 100 upvotes. :)
Hey Ryan, i think the signup link is broken! Would love to check this out
Like I commented re: it would be awesome to be able to set the threshold.
Good suggestion. We'll look at that.
ROOST = so awesome, love it !
Thanks, man.
Agreed - Roost is pretty awesome. This integration with Product Hunt is going to change my life.
The Roost team is awesome, it's been great to see how quickly they stay ahead of the market and release new features.
Does Roost only support Safari Browser? How about Chrome?
