RhetorAI automates user interviews for faster product-market fit. Once you create a link, our AI is available to interview your users 24/7 and gives you actionable insights - just like an AI product researcher.
👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm Jimmy, co-founder of RhetorAI - the AI-powered user interview tool that helps startups achieve Product-Market Fit (PMF) faster than ever before! 🚀
I created RhetorAI with the help of my amazing team members Leo and Ronald, who have been instrumental in bringing this tool to life. 🤖💬
We are all makers, and we've experienced many failures in our previous startups. One of the most painful issue we encountered was getting user feedback, especially in the early stages. We didn't know how to catch user feedback effectively, and we wasted a lot of time and resources building products that nobody wanted. That's why we created RhetorAI. 🤖💬
Why should you use RhetorAI? Because we know how crucial it is to get user feedback early and often. With RhetorAI, you can conduct user interviews at scale, allowing you to get feedback from hundreds or even thousands of users in just a few clicks. 🤖💬
Here are the features of RhetorAI in 5 steps:
1️⃣ Fill in your product details on RhetorAI
2️⃣ Send out your rhetor.ai link
3️⃣ Let our AI interview your users
4️⃣ See actionable insights come in
5️⃣ Summarize all insights with RhetorAI
With RhetorAI, you'll be able to quickly and easily gather valuable user feedback that will help you build better products and achieve PMF faster than ever before. 🙌
If you have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're always happy to chat with fellow tech enthusiasts! 🤗💻

@dineshan_sithamparanathan 🙏 Thank you for trying RhetorAI and for the kind words! We're excited to help more makers achieve Product-Market Fit. Let us know if you have any additional feedback or ideas for improvement. Thanks again! 😊
Good luck with the launch today @jimmyclchu, as a PMM who loves spending 1x1 time with customers but doesn't love having to transcribe while talking and doing allll the admin work to tie up the notes succinctly, this product seems perfect for me.
@emily_matick 🙏 Thank you for the kind words and support! We're thrilled to hear that RhetorAI could be a helpful tool for PMMs like yourself. Let us know if you have any other feedback or ideas for how we can make the product even better. Thanks again! 😊
@jimmyclchu Congratulations to RhetorAI for automating user interviews with AI, making it easier for businesses to gain valuable insights for faster product-market fit. Great job!
@jimmyclchu@oe_zheng Thank you! PMF is a huge pain-point for many and we're dedicated to solving it!

Saw you in the Furlough Discord!
This product looks like it would help UX researchers formulate questions much quicker and more precisely. Great idea.
Was this created using Chat GPT API? I know that can be applied to many things.
All the best to you!
@designerfrank Thanks for the kind words! It's created with GPT-3-davinci right now but we're definitely looking to switch to the newest ChatGPT API as it's 10x cheaper.
Having a customer-centric interface and features is imperative for the success of a product. While this tool may look like an option to some, I think this tool should be perceived as an absolute necessity. I used to gather user feedback from Discord and I wish RhetorAI had launched even just a couple of months ago! Would've saved me so much time, effort, and most importantly - money.
Congratulations to the team on the successful product! Amazing work 🙏
@peter_tkw Thank you Peter! Appreciate your support 🙏

Cool tool! Does the AI have any directives on when to invite a close to the conversation, or will it keep asking questions as long as the person is answering?
@david_glass Right now it stops a conversation after 5 rounds - but we're definitely looking into a more flexible conversation length in the next iteration!

I find it quite interesting. Specifically, I appreciate the opportunity for follow-ups to drive clarity about what the respondent is saying.
As I have not yet had the opportunity to run a survey using your product from live users, I am curious about the range of follow-up questions available. It seems to me that your product could be useful for researching any given product, not just for companies wanting to research their own products.
One interesting question that comes to mind is how your product can differentiate itself from existing surveys that are structured with a specific list of questions and answers, albeit with some potential for follow-up questions. The opportunity to ask general questions and then receive actual insights is exciting. I have noticed this while using your tool, where I say something and then receive more follow-up details.
It seems that your product has the potential to sit between traditional fixed surveys and live interviews, but how can it go even further in the direction of being a live interview? For example, I can envision a use case where someone is asked to talk about how they use a product while sharing their screen. The audio from the conversation would be transcribed, and follow-up questions would be generated from the conversation. The overall objective would be for the user to walk through and show how they use a product, so that from a viewer's perspective, potential user problems can be uncovered, even if the user does not specifically state the problem. For instance, someone who has a complex spreadsheet and copy-pasting a bunch of data could be helped with a new feature that automates this process.
I have a few questions for you:
- What is your next iteration of the product?
- What is the most creative use of your product that you have seen?
- Can your product support an extended back-and-forth Q&A session?
- Is there a role for summarizing answers to avoid a large amount of text to sort through?
- What are your thoughts on the use case idea above of a live screen share with follow-up questions?
In general, I am curious if there is a very specific use case for your product that makes sense and if it can help to better identify who to have a live call with, by way of getting to more specifics. I also wonder if the Superhuman types of questions could be useful to ask through your product.
@daveneur Thanks for the super detailed feedback - and I appreciate that you've found the follow-ups to be helpful. It definitely comes from personal experience, where we find that asking people to fill in forms for a company's surveys, is one of the most user-hostile things on the Internet, next to eDMs, banner ads. It's no understatement that forms and surveys have one of the lowest response rates ever.
So instead of hitting everyone with a standard 15-page survey, we asked ourselves, is it possible to make feedback collection feel more like a conversation - where it feels like the other side is really listening to your inputs, and our first iteration is RhetorAI.
Re: going more in the direction of live interviews - it's something we have thought of, yet we feel 1) the tech isn't there yet. For example, I'm not aware of a publicly available multimodal model that is able to comprehend a user's screen share and provide responses based on that. 2) circling back to the point of user-hostility, while having extended AI interviews sounds great from a business efficiency perspective, are we certain most users outside of tech necessarily want to be interviewed by an AI for an extended period of time - without the human emotional connection? (It's the same problem with emotional support chatbots)
So perhaps we should be using LLMs to improve the mundane form/survey filling experience - and improve the quality of questions, shorten the time needed to fill in a form, and increase completion rates. That's what our next iteration will be focusing on.

Re: most creative use of RhetorAI - we are seeing a large blockchain project use RhetorAI to collect feedback from their large Discord / Telegram groups, and the engagement is high. So there's a legit use case in collecting community feedback at scale using RhetorAI.
Thanks for the questions! Definitely got us thinking. Would love to share more if you're interested on your podcast or newsletter!
