I wanted something that just works, without asking for anything in return. No account. No telemetry. No subscription. Your requests stay on your machine, always.
So I built Resonance — a local-first API client using Tauri and Rust. The architecture choice was intentional: Tauri gives a ~15MB install and ~50MB memory footprint. It's fast, lean, and doesn't feel like running a browser just to send an HTTP request.
Over time it grew into a full-featured tool: REST, GraphQL, WebSockets, gRPC, a mock server, pre-request scripts, collection runner, OpenAPI/Postman import, environment management, and more — all without ever touching a server.
The project is fully open-source (MIT), available on Flathub, Snap, AUR, Homebrew, and as a standalone AppImage/MSI/DMG.
Would love to hear what you think — and what features matter most to you. Happy to answer any questions below!
