This Chrome Extension removes all the comments inside of YouTube where they are trying to scam people by impersonating the YouTube Channel author.

I built this after getting sick of YouTube doing nothing about these scammers. Hopefully this makes the experience of YouTube a little better for everyone. Obviously there is tons of things that could be done here e.g. using NLP classifier etc. But it's pretty simple and works for 99% of scenarios. Let me know what you think!

Awesome idea. Those scammy comments are getting out of control. I'd love to see something like this for the channels I admin. Maybe there's a product idea there. I imagine you could use the YouTube data API to delete the baddies via this: https://developers.google.com/yo...

Fantastic point, this was a quick project. To build what you are suggesting (which I agree with) would be worth knowing what creators/editors/admins would pay for this automated spam detection? $10/channel per month?

Zero at the moment. If I add an NLP classifier then that will go up but it would be more generalised.

At the moment just for the viewer. But as Lauren suggested above maybe there is a product there if you provide it to channel owners? Not sure if there is enough demand to warrant building it?

Thank you all for your upvotes and comments. After discussing with a bunch of YouTubers and moderators for YT channels, it seems a product that connects straight into your YouTube Channel account and automatically removes the content is a much better solution. Specifically 3x YTs with over 100K subscribers have directly asked for this product from me. How much should I charge? How much is it worth? I guess I'll be able to answer these questions once users are using it and it's reduced their "moderation" work to zero. Some are spending hours a day 🤯 I've just collected a small test dataset, and I'm getting over 94% accuracy on a NLP pre-trained from wikipedia. Next step will be to build a small web app to allow users to connect to their channel and then relaunch to see the uptake/usage. It's funny that an idea I built in a lunchtime could actually become something people want. Everything else I've built takes months and usually fails.

Hey everyone - so I built the service @laurenproctor32 suggested, it's currently being used by one YouTuber with over 230k subscribers. The NN is performing 99% of the time on 15,000 comments. I'm currently awaiting approval from Google to allow high volume on their YouTube Data API. Once approved, I'll relaunch here on product hunt.
