Do you think about API cost while coding?

Curious how people actually think about this.

When you’re writing code that hits APIs, are you thinking about cost at all?

Or is it more like something you deal with later if it becomes an issue?

Feels like a lot of cost problems come from small things like loops, retries, or polling that don’t seem like a big deal at the time.

Do you ever catch that stuff early, or nah?
