What is rebate management software?

by•

Hey Product Hunt,

RebateLedger is rebate, claims and trade-scheme settlement software

for distributors and manufacturers.

The problem, concretely: a manufacturer announces a scheme — say 2%

on quarterly offtake, three slabs. The distributor sells. Months

later a credit note lands that nobody can fully reconcile against

what was actually earned. The scheme lived in a PDF circular, the

accrual lived in a spreadsheet, and the settlement lived in

somebody's inbox.

Rebate management software is the category that closes that gap. It

does four things:

1. Captures the scheme as structured data — slabs, eligibility,

validity — instead of a circular.

2. Accrues in real time against actual sales, so finance knows the

live liability before the partner claims it.

3. Validates claims against the agreement and the invoice data, so

settlement is arithmetic rather than negotiation.

4. Settles with the correct credit note.

Why we built our own rather than adopting an existing platform:

point 4. Global rebate tools settle a rebate as a credit memo. In

India it has to be a Section 34 / Rule 53(1A) tax credit note or a

financial credit note — and the choice changes the supplier's output

GST and forces proportionate ITC reversal at the partner's end. Pick

wrong and it is a tax exposure, not a formatting issue.

The second thing global tools assume away is depth. Indian route-to-

market runs manufacturer → super-stockist → distributor → sub-

stockist → dealer → retailer, with secondary schemes running below

the primary. We designed around both.

What's in it today: structured rebate and scheme agreements, live

accrual tracking, partner claim reconciliation against your

agreements, GST-compliant credit-note settlement, a hash-chained

audit log for "who changed what, when", and row-level tenant

isolation in Postgres.

You can open a demo sandbox loaded with realistic Indian distributor

data without signing up — no email, no credit card.

Three things I'd genuinely value feedback on:

→ Is the GST wedge legible if you're outside India, or does it just

read as a compliance footnote?

→ For anyone who has run channel rebates anywhere: what breaks

first when you outgrow the spreadsheet?

→ Onboarding — we think a team can get to a first settled claim in

a week. Does that match what you'd expect?

I'll be here all day. Ask me anything, including the sceptical

questions.
