Categorization now recovers on its own after an interrupted run, and replies from classic Outlook finally fold their quoted history away.
Failed categorizations now fix themselves
Quit the app mid-sort and those emails used to land in Failed, waiting on a manual retry they never really needed. Now Quartz spots the difference between a hiccup and a real problem, and quietly re-runs the ones worth another shot the next time you open the app no clicking required. Genuinely stuck emails still surface for you, and nothing gets retried forever.
Your full Gmail history, a much faster app on large mailboxes, and one-click unsubscribe.
Your entire mailbox, not just the new stuff
Quartz now brings in your full Gmail history, not just mail that arrives after you connect. Older messages appear while sorting runs in the background, and you choose upfront how much of the backlog to sort the rest waits for Process now.
Quartz turns Gmail into a focused inbox. It sorts every message by importance, and learns what matters to you over time. When you reply, it drafts in your own voice. And the AI runs entirely on your own Mac, so your mail stays end-to-end encrypted and never shared with AI providers.
This release brings instant inbox search, smarter sorting for long emails, and a lighter, smoother day-to-day experience.
Find any email in seconds
Press Cmd+F and start typing Quartz now searches across senders, subjects, recipients, and the full body of your mail. Matches are highlighted as you go and ranked so the most relevant results rise to the top, so the message you're hunting for is never more than a few keystrokes away. Hit Esc to step right back out and return to your inbox.
Improved: Your account and AI preferences now live together in one streamlined Settings spot no more hunting between separate menus for what you want to tweak.
Fixed: Setting Quartz as your default mail client and clicking a mailto: link no longer freezes the app your compose window pops open smoothly, every time.
Meet Signatures your personal sign-off, always ready to go. Create as many as you like in Settings, then pick the right one straight from the compose window. Quartz drops it in automatically, keeps your reply quotes intact, and remembers your choice per account, so every message ends exactly the way you want.
Large syncs and first-time imports used to be able to overwhelm machines with limited RAM emails were processed all at once, which on an 8 GB Mac could push the system into heavy swapping and slowdowns. Email processing is now paced to stay light on memory regardless of how many messages are queued, so your inbox keeps filling in without freezing the rest of your system.
A lot of people download Quartz, look around, and quietly stop. If that's you, you're exactly who I want to talk to - not to win you back, just to understand what felt off.
Quartz started with a frustration. At some point, I began feeling like I was drowning in the amount of information I had to keep up with. It was always a challenge, but ever since ChatGPT was released, it feels like the volume of content everywhere has multiplied.
