In my information security day job as an application pentester, I often wanted a simple, fast but powerful tool to inspect HTTP traffic. I had a pretty good idea what I wanted, a proxy application somewhere between a security tool and a developer tool. There just wasn't one available that would be well suited to both hacking and QA testing.
I remember later visiting a security conference and spending some time at a small hacking contest there. I didn't have my laptop with me, only my iPhone, and could not really participate. This is when I decided I really want to make the HTTP proxy tool I had been thinking about.
Proxygen is a professional HTTP proxy tool that can capture traffic using TLS MitM both on Mac and iPhone. It comes with a set of powerful tools, Intercept for stopping and editing requests and responses on the fly, Transform for quickly applying a recipe of encoding operation to any data, and Diff for blazing fast diffing between any two data. The most recent 2.0 update also added WebSocket message inspection.
It's a fully native modern Cocoa app on Mac and works great with a simplified UI on both iPhone and iPad. I'm quite proud of the user experience and what I've accomplished.
