Profspect's research engine now runs on Claude Sonnet 5❗️
For anyone new to it, Profspect reads the public record for a specific student (course catalogs, posted syllabi, section schedules, RateMyProfessors, transfer articulation) and turns it into a scored, sourced, term-by-term plan.
The research step is the core of the whole thing, it's where the quality actually lives, so the model running it matters more than any other piece.
Sonnet 5 got a lot better at the two things that step leans on, reasoning with tools and doing knowledge work over sources. In practice that's cleaner reads on each course and professor, and the 1M context window means a full degree's worth of courses fits in a single pass, which was a real bottleneck before. I kept Opus on the final synthesis pass since it's still the sharper reasoner there, but the research itself is Sonnet 5 now.
